Auction volumes, upward trend in success rates

Capital markets have seen higher volumes and success rates in the past week on a weekly and annual basis, according to the latest CoreLogic figures.

During the weekend, 2,446 houses were sold at auction, going from 1,596 at auction last weekend and 2,293 during the same period last year. The latest auction volume returned a 77.7% liquidation rate.

Melbourne, once again, was the busiest market after experiencing 1,215 auctions, of which 79.6% were successful.

Sydney, on the other hand, reported the highest liquidation rate at 81.5% for 938 auctions.

Customs clearance rates in capitals were considerably higher in most cities than a year ago. Sydney, for example, recorded a success rate of 50.2% for 801 auctions last year, far from recent results of 81.5% for 938 auctions.
