The Queensland State Government announced that it has already released nearly 50,000 residential lots in South East Queensland (SEQ), thus increasing the supply needed to meet to growing demand in the region.
The creation of the Growth Areas Team and targeted funding of $ 92 million from the state were the two main drivers of the increase in the available land supply.
Steven Miles, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State Development, said the government has made increasing the supply of land a key priority in its stimulus package economic COVID-19.
"Our strong health response to the COVID-19 pandemic has created a spike in interstate migration, which has put pressure on the supply of land across the state," a- he declared.
The $ 92 million investment in the Building Acceleration Fund was aimed at improving and launching infrastructure projects in communities such as Greater Flagstone and Ripley Valley and priority growth areas such as Southern Redland Bay and Caboolture West.
“Greater Flagstone and Ripley Valley are both expected to be home to around 120,000 people, so it's important that we have the right infrastructure in place to support this growth,” Miles said.
Below are the areas that have seen an increase in the supply of residential land since Queensland started the project in November:
Caloundra Sud – 3,091 lots unlocked
Caboolture West – 3,000 lots unlocked and $ 10.5 million from the Building Acceleration Fund for water and sewer infrastructure
Southern Redland Bay – 5,000 lots unlocked and $ 15 million from the Construction Acceleration Fund for a new wastewater management plant
