Property Board appoints new manager in Victoria

The Property Council of Australia announced the appointment of a new Executive Director in Victoria.

Danni Hunter will begin her new role on January 11, 2021, succeeding Cressida Wall who took over as CEO of Office or Projects Victoria last month.

Hunter will be stepping down as CEO of the nonprofit Urban Institute of Australia (UDIA) in Victoria, where she has led urban development efforts for the past six years.

Prior to his stint at UDIA, Hunter worked with the Property Council and held leadership positions in Victoria State Government and the private sector. She has also acted as a non-executive director for several groups.

Ken Morrison, Managing Director of the Property Council, said Hunter was the right person to lead the organization at a time when the industry was given a mandate from the government to lead the state's economic recovery efforts after the pandemic.

"We are delighted that Danni is joining the Property Council's leadership team at this crucial time in Victoria," he said. "She has played a leading role in key political debates in Victoria for many years and is highly respected in industry and government."

Morrison also said that Hunter's strong leadership, passion, and industry knowledge would be essential in getting Victoria's economy back on track for growth.

Meanwhile, Hunter said she was excited to take on her new role at a critical time in industry and the state's economic recovery.

"Although Victoria is now thankfully out of lockdown, the state will still face enormous challenges as its economy recovers," she said. “The real estate industry is resilient and highly adaptable, and I look forward to leading the Property Council in Victoria as we work with our members to evolve the way everyone uses and interacts with property and our shape. built. "

Hunter said the Victoria government's recent state budget announcement was "more than a vote of confidence in the real estate industry", adding that it was a " flashing green light, and we're good to go ”.

"The 300,000 Victorians who work in the real estate, construction and development industry set to work to build Victoria's recovery," she said. “The stimulus and investment by states and the federal government in our post-COVID recovery effort will lock down jobs, create new homes and communities, and change the way we use our spaces and places. Our cities and regions will tell a positive story of recovery and growth for years to come. "

Morrison also thanked Deputy Executive Director Matthew Kandelaars who will continue to lead the Victorian Division on an interim basis until the New Year.
