Sydney vacancy rates see little change

Expanded Sydney has seen little change in vacancy rates, while Inner and outside Sydney have seen minor changes, reported the Institute 's. real estate in New South Wales (REINSW).

The capital had a vacancy rate of 3.5% in July, up 0.1% from June. Vacancy rates in Inner Sydney fell from 0.4% to 3%, while Outer Sydney fell from 0.1% to 3.4%.

Apartment vacancy rates in Middle Sydney resisted this trend, increasing from 0.7% to 4.1%.

Vacancy rates in the Hunter region remained stable at 1.7%, with other regions recording an increase of 0.2% to 1.8%. However, the Newcastle vacancy rate decreased by 0.2% to 1.6%.

The Illawarra region experienced a drop in vacancy rates from 0.1% to 2.2% in July. Vacancy rates in Wollongong also decreased, decreasing from 0.5% to 1.6%.

More than 50% of other New South Wales regions posted growth in their vacancy rates, with Coffs Harbor and the South Coast recording a 1% increase.

The Southeast region has the highest growth in the vacancy rate, at 2.2%.

Several areas experienced lower vacancy rates, with the north-central coast falling 0.7% to 2.8%.

The year ending July 2019, the vacancy rate in Sydney increased from 0.7% to 3.5%. Illawarra and Newcastle both fell 0.2% to 1.7% and 2.2% respectively.
