The Tasmanian State Government has renewed its commitment to provide access to quality social housing to vulnerable Tasmanians with new support services from Centacare Evolve Housing (CEH).
As part of the state's Community Housing Growth Program (CHGP), CEH will expand its services to Austins Ferry, Berriedale, Bothwell, Brighton, Campania, Colebrook, Granton, Kempton, New Norfolk, Oatlands, Old Beach and Rosetta.
The CEH will deploy additional housing and support services from September.
Michael Ferguson, Minister of State Development, Construction and Housing, said community housing providers are a crucial part of the social housing sector given their access to more housing. financing options.
"This means they have more money to provide more housing services like maintenance, improvements, housing support and community development. It will bring certainty and confidence to the tenants and financial institutions, "he said.
The CHGP will transfer the management of 2,000 social housing rentals to community housing providers under long-term management agreements until 2040.
Ferguson said that with the program, tenants would get more housing and support services.
“Eligible tenants will pay rent that includes Centrelink's Commonwealth Rent Assistance (CRA). The terms of the lease will also not change under the new lease management arrangements, ”he said.
The state government is currently in talks with other community housing providers including Community Housing Limited, Housing Choices Tasmania, and Mission Australia Housing to expand their services.
