The Tasmanian government has committed to relaunching the first cycle of its community housing growth program with 764 additional housing units to be delivered over the next three years.
Housing Minister Roger Jaensch said the houses will be spread across 10 local government areas and support jobs in all parts of the state.
"It is important to note that there are other cycles of the program to follow and we remain committed to reaching the goal of a maximum of 1,000 new social houses at deliver under this specific initiative, "he said.
Houses are just a part of the government's overall $ 300 million investment to deliver homes and end homelessness in the state. The investment is expected to deliver more than 1,500 new homes over the next three years. More than 400 homes are expected over the next 12 months.
There are 24 houses due for delivery in July to the construction site in East Devonport. The state government provided $ 3.7 million for the construction of these homes.
"We are partnering with Housing Choices Tasmania to deliver them," Jaensch said. “The Government of Tasmania's Housing Plan is providing more homes than ever to more Tasmanians as we continue to rebuild a stronger Tasmania.”
