The Mascot Towers fiasco is still under investigation and engineers will need another four weeks to determine the cause of the problems that arise in the Sydney building, signaling that it is unlikely that the owners and owners residents return home in the short term.
Nearly 250 homeowners met Thursday to take stock of Mascot towers, which were evacuated on June 14 due to cracks in the main support structure and facade masonry, according to news.com.au.
The owners were frustrated after learning that the "vital information" of the local council was not yet available, although they had received certain documents the previous days, according to the spokesman of the company owners, Patrick McGuire.
About a week ago, Bayside City Council failed to immediately recover the documents requested by the engineers. Mayor Bill Saravinovski said the documents were stored at a site on the central coast of New South Wales, thus blocking the investigation process.
"There was a lot of information that came in yesterday, but after review, the requested information has still not been provided," McGuire told AAP.
An engineer, however, indicated that "signs of stability" had been observed during the visit of the building.
"The building has therefore stabilized over the past week and its risk profile has been downgraded and improved," McGuire told AAP.
Almost three weeks ago, NSW arrived in the 10-year-old 10-year-old building. Since then, residents of her 132 units have been forced to stay elsewhere.
