The number of rental housing in Sydney increases

The vacancy rate in Sydney increased 0.2% from 3.2% in April to 3.4% in May, according to the Real Estate Institute's report on the rate of vacant residential housing (REINSW ).

Other key areas reported by NSW, such as the Illawarra region, recorded a 0.5% increase in the vacancy rate to 3.1%. The Hunter Region vacancy rate increased from 0.1% to 1.7% after three months.

The data also showed that 75% of the rest of NSW remained stable. The Riverina recorded the largest increase in vacancies, from 2% in April to 3% in May. The Southeast region, on the other hand, slipped from 2.1% to 0.9% due to seasonal fluctuations.

"More and more properties are becoming available, thanks in part to additional inventory on the market and new developments," said REINSW CEO Tim McKibbin.

What are the results for particular areas?
Inland Sydney edged down 0.1%, from 3.2% in April to 3.1% in May. The outskirts of Sydney increased by 0.3% to 3.6%, making it the highest vacancy rate in Sydney. Middle Sydney remained stable at 3.3% for the second month in a row.

In the Hunter area, job vacancies in Newcastle increased from 0.3% to 1.7%, after a significant drop of 0.7% between March and April. Vacancy rates in other regions of the region increased 0.1% in April to 1.9% in June.

Wollongong and other regions of the Illawarra region recorded sharp increases of 0.6% to 3.3% and 0.8% to 2.9%, respectively, between April and May.

From one year to the next, Sydney recorded a 1% increase in vacancies, from 2.4% to 3.4%. The number of vacancies in the Illawarra region increased by 0.7 percent to 3.1 percent, while the number of hunters remained stable, rising only 0.2 percent to 1.8 percent. .
