The state government of Western Australia unveiled a set of $ 150 million housing investments as part of its efforts to stimulate the local economy.
The investment program is divided into three parts: $ 125 million for the construction of 300 social housing for the homeless and vulnerable people on the priority waiting list; approximately $ 6 million for the renovation of 20 regional and 50 metropolitan social housing units; and $ 19 million to be channeled through Key Start for another 200 shared share units.
"Not only is this a win for buyers of WA homes and those who are currently on the waiting list for social housing, but also for the construction industry with the 1,000 additional jobs to be created, "said Damian Collins, president of the Real Estate Institute of Western Australia.
Collins said that these policies could help solve housing affordability problems in the state and would help those seeking to take their first step on the property scale as a homeowner. owners.
"The AO market remains a challenging environment for some Australians in the West, and this initiative is an important step in ensuring everyone has a home," he said.
Housing Industry Association Executive Director Cath Hart said the announcements will give confidence to thousands of workers and businesses in Western Australia in the residential construction sector.
"It's extremely important for us to have enough ready and able skilled workers when WA residential construction will begin to increase to more sustainable levels in the coming years, and for us not to be confronted skills shortages, "she said.
