According to Damian Collins, president of the Real Estate Institute of Western Australia (REIWA), "signs of strength" were emerging.
The median price of real estate in regional centers has improved, according to the REIWA Market Update for the June 2019 quarter.
"Port Hedland and Karratha have had to face many challenges because of the resource sector slowdown, but signs of strength are emerging, which is encouraging," Collins said.
The median value of homes in Port Hedland was up 3.4%. In Albany and Karratha, the median house value increased 2.7% and 1.6%, respectively, according to REIWA.
According to Collins, the increase in jobs in the northern regions of Washington State has probably contributed to the slight increase in prices, according to Collins.
"We expect to see additional growth in Port Hedland and Karratha due to the increased power of the Fortescue Metals Group, BHP, Rio Tinto and Woodside projects," he said.
Seven regional centers also recorded a decline in the number of rental listings, with listings for Karratha having dropped by 56%. Figures in Esperance and Port Hedland fell 33% and 32% respectively.
In Broome, the weekly median rent increased by $ 35 a week. The median weekly rent in Bunbury was up $ 20 a week, according to the numbers.
Port Hedland and Kalgoorlie-Boulder recorded a $ 10 per week increase in the median value of weekly rent, according to the numbers.
"The demand for rental properties has increased this last quarter, with regional areas finally showing an improvement in general market sentiment. We know that times are tough for regional WAs and REIWA welcomes recently announced large-scale projects that will create more jobs and attract people to WA to give our economy the boost it needs. " said Collins.
