According to the Housing Industry Association (HIA), the Hunter region occupies six spots in this year's housing hotspot report.
The Hunter area was well represented in the list, according to the latest hotspots of the HIA in terms of population and residential construction. The report aims to identify areas of employment growth targeted at builders and contractors.
Thornton-Millers Forest remained the # 1 spot in the Hunter Region this year, with $ 96.3 million in capital under construction and 7.7% population growth.
Maryland-Fletcher-Minmi comes in second with $ 57.1 million in capital and a population growth rate of 4.4%. Branxton-Greta-Polkolbin followed with $ 75.3 million in construction work and a population growth of 4.2%.
Newcastle-Cooks Hill recorded the highest value of new housing approvals in the Hunter area, with $ 239.3 million in building approvals. This value made it one of 17 NSW sites with more than $ 200 million in approved residential construction in 2017-18, and the only one outside of Sydney.
